    Join HRASM for this dynamic in-person event where we’ll dive into the latest legal, legislative, and regulatory developments from the past year. This interactive session will explore key trends shaping HR policies, practices, and programs—including updates on Executive Orders issued since March 28, 2025.

    Learning Objectives:

    1. Name at least two employment law cases or trends that have or will impact your organization, how, and recommendations for enhancing or continuing compliance.
    2. Name at least two regulatory changes or trends that have or will impact your organization, how, and recommendations for enhancing or continuing compliance.
    3. Describe two new Maryland laws and how they may impact their organization's HR operations.

     

    Speaker: Christine V. Walters, JD, MAS, SHRM-SCP, SPHR - Owner, FiveL Company 

    Ms. Walters has more than 25 years’ combined experience in management, HR administration, employment law practice, and teaching. After working nearly ten years in human resources administration, Ms. Walters started FiveL Company in 1998 as a part-time practice while working full-time at the Johns Hopkins University as Program Director and Interim Department Chair. She discontinued FiveL Company when she joined the law firm of Saul Ewing LLP in 2000 and restarted the practice when she ventured out on her own to provide full-time human resources and employment law consulting in September 2002. Ms. Walters also served as an adjunct faculty member of the Johns Hopkins University from 1999 to 2006, teaching graduate, undergraduate and certification level courses. Ms. Walters demonstrates her commitment to supporting and advancing the needs and interests of the business community and human resources profession by currently serving in a number of volunteer leadership roles. Throughout her career, Ms. Walters has been honored with awards and accolades. She has received national and regional awards, presented at conferences across the country, been engaged as an expert witness for the defense, and testified before U.S. Congressional and state legislative committees and administrative agencies on employment issues. Today Ms. Walters works as an independent consultant providing proactive human resources and employment law consulting services and training programs doing business as FiveL Company, “Helping Leaders Limit their Liability by Learning the Law.”SM

    Her book, “From Hello to Goodbye: Proactive Tips for Maintaining Positive Employee Relations” is now in its 2nd edition and has been one of the publisher’s “Great 8” best-sellers for eight consecutive years and provides readers with 3.0 SHRM credits!
