Human Resources Association of Southern Maryland

In November 2008, HRASM became a chapter affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), serving members from Southern Maryland's tri-county region--Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties. In 2023, HRASM transitioned to a SHRM National Dual Membership Release (DMR) chapter, requiring all chapter members to maintain SHRM national membership. As of 2026, HRASM is also known as Southern Maryland SHRM.

Chapter members can take advantage of many activities and programs for professional growth and improvement while meeting and networking with other locally based professionals.

As both a SHRM Recertification Provider and an HRCI Approved Provider, we offer meetings, conferences, and events with Professional Development and Recertification Credits to assist our SHRM and HRCI certified professionals.

HRASM was well represented at the Maryland SHRM State HR Conference in October 2025!

SHRM has awarded the 2024 Platinum Excel Award to the Human Resources Association of Southern Maryland in recognition of its exceptional work and accomplishments in 2024. This award celebrates the Chapter’s strategic initiatives, innovative programming, and unwavering commitment to elevating the HR profession and improving workplaces across the region. The Excel Award is given at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels. It is a symbol of excellence in chapter and state council leadership. Honorees are recognized for activities that align with SHRM’s mission to empower people and workplaces by advancing human resource practices and maximizing human potential.
